The unions of Mediapro France, a technical service provider which produces Ligue 1 matches, called Wednesday for a "renewable" strike from Thursday in order to obtain "explanations" from Jaume Roures, boss of Mediapro, about to withdraw from the market French TV rights.

"We called a strike following our requests which went unanswered to meet with Mr. Roures," a union source told AFP, confirming information from the sports daily L'Equipe.

"What we want is that all employees mobilize to obtain the arrival of Roures, clear explanations and above all respect for the employer's commitments to its employees," said this source. .

The inter-union Unsa-CFDT called a strike against the 100 or so employees of Mediapro France, supposed to ensure the production and broadcasting of matches of the 16th day of L2 Friday and Saturday, as well as the 16th day of L1 Saturday and Sunday.

Editorial and editorial coverage is provided by another structure, Mediapro Sport France, which has more than fifty employees.

This call to strike directly threatens the good broadcasting of these meetings while the Téléfoot channel, major broadcaster of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 since August, is preparing to disappear in the coming weeks after an agreement for a breach of contract between the Professional Football League (LFP) and Mediapro, which did not pay its TV rights due in October and December.

Faced with the possibility that the Sino-Spanish group will call on other technicians, based for example in Spain, to ensure the production of these matches, the union source contacted by AFP assured that he had "no fear by compared to that ".

"I do not think that they can bring back teams to do all the productions in place of the local employees", one indicated.

"That makes teams, there is the notion of the specifications of the LFP to be respected at the production level, I'm not sure they have the time to master everything."

Questioned by AFP, the management of Mediapro France and Téléfoot had not reacted at midday.
