It is a verdict which comes to close 54 days of hearing.

Initially scheduled for November 10, the end of this extraordinary trial had been postponed several times after one of the main defendants had tested positive for Covid-19.

In front of more than 200 civil parties and in front of journalists from all over the world, the 11 suspects present were qualified as "

kingpins

" of the attacks by the national anti-terrorism prosecution.

Suspected of logistical support and complicity for two of them, they risk between 5 years in prison and life imprisonment.

Described as

 the terrorists' “

backbone

” by the attorneys general, the defendants allegedly provided the Kouachi brothers and Amedy Coulibaly with weapons.

Appetite for condemnations

 "

All of these accusations have been questioned by defense lawyers.

Which did not cease, during the last days of the trial, to recall the lack of evidence and the many gray areas of the case.

The lawyers even denounced an “

appetite for convictions

” and the risk that the 14 defendants will pay for the authors, who have died.

Aged 29 to 68, the 14 suspects should be fixed on their fate this Wednesday afternoon.
