Bestensee (dpa / bb) - A joint application by the AfD, CDU and the independent citizens has caused a stir beyond the community of Bestensee.

Now the municipal council has passed the motion with a large majority.

Of 19 representatives, 14 would have voted on Tuesday evening, said community spokesman Roland Holm on Wednesday.

The point is to bring a Montessori elementary school from Königs Wusterhausen to Bestensee in the Dahme-Spreewald district.

The "Märkische Allgemeine" had previously reported on the vote.

Brandenburg's CDU general secretary Gordon Hoffmann had informed his party colleagues of a decision by the CDU a week ago: The CDU declared at a party congress two years ago that it rejects coalitions and similar forms of cooperation with the Left and the AfD.

Hoffmann assumed that the application would be abandoned.

In May, a joint appearance of the left faction in the city council of Forst (Spree-Neisse) with the AfD caused political turmoil in the regional association of the left.
