The art project "Salong Sergel" is an example of what Stockholmers can expect in more places next year.

Earlier this week, the Stockholm City Council hammered out a budget for 2021. One of the tasks in the budget is to promote street art and mural painting in the city.

- Stockholm is a city that has a lot of art.

But by working with murals and street art, you can create life in places that may not be used enough today, says Councilor for Culture Jonas Naddebo (C).

Next year, the city will set aside SEK 1 million for a mural painting strategy.

The idea is that districts, administrations and real estate companies should be guided in developing street food.

In this way, Stockholm will become more alive.

Many artists wanted to exhibit

In the art project "Salong Sergel", 29 artists exhibit their work in the square's shop window.

But the interest was great when just over 300 applications were received.

The last paintings were completed on Wednesday and the exhibition can be viewed until 31 January 2021.
