Lübeck (dpa / lno) - In view of the continued high number of infections, the Hanseatic City of Lübeck prohibited day-to-day tourism in Lübeck-Travemünde on Wednesday.

"We have to limit day tourism to Travemünde so that distance rules can be adhered to better," said Mayor Jan Lindenau (SPD) on Wednesday.

"In the past, there has been an overload of the Baltic Sea resort on weekends and public holidays."

Lübeckers should continue to be free in Travemünde and on the Priwall.

The ban on day tourists applies from Thursday to Sunday.

The city has also extended the mask requirement in a new general decree in Travemünde in the areas of Trelleborgallee and Am Leuchtenfeld.
