Six tons of household waste to comb through.
We have seen nicer afternoons.
Since 2 p.m. this Wednesday, the firefighters of the Rennes Le Blosne center have been mobilized within the Saint-Malo household waste treatment center (Ille-et-Vilaine), where radioactive materials were detected.
The incident dates back to Monday, when a dumpster where six tons of garbage was piled up was classified as radioactive after passing under the detection gantry.
Placed in isolation as required by the protocol, the dumpster was again passed under the gantry this Wednesday, and the radioactivity was again detected.
A team of specialist firefighters was dispatched to the site with a specialized vehicle.
The emergency services are active to empty the dumpster and try to isolate the source.
The site was closed and a security perimeter was established around the site, installed rue des Belettes.
