Wolfsburg (dpa) - Coach Oliver Glasner from VfL Wolfsburg would like to see a change in the interpretation of the rules to avoid serious head injuries such as Schalke's Mark Uth.

“Today you are no longer allowed to use your arms when jumping and you quickly get a yellow card.

As a player, I always had the impression that my arms could also protect, because then you couldn't crash head to head, ”said the 46-year-old Austrian in an interview with the“ Süddeutsche Zeitung ”(Wednesday).

Uth initially remained unconscious on the lawn last Sunday after a header duel in the Bundesliga game at FC Augsburg and was later admitted to hospital with a concussion.

Glasner himself had it much worse in 2012 as a SV Ried player.

He was diagnosed with cerebral haemorrhage in the hospital several days after a comparable header duel.

“Then I had an emergency operation - and the doctors in Copenhagen said that around 50 percent of patients die from this complication.

It took me a few months to regain my strength, ”he said.
