16 December 2020 Pierluigi Collina is the best referee in history according to France Football.

The former Italian whistle, current president of the FIFA Referees Commission, precedes the English Ken Aston and the French Michel Vautrot in the ranking drawn up by the prestigious French magazine.

Best referee in the world between 1998 and 2005 for the Iffhs, the World Federation of Football Historians and Statisticians, Collina has directed 467 games in his career, including the 2002 World Cup final. In 2011 he joined part of the 'Italian Football Hall of Fame'.
