Saarbrücken (dpa) - The directors of the Max Ophüls Preis (MOP) film festival will present details of the 42nd edition at a video press conference in Saarbrücken today (11.00 a.m.).

The festival will take place exclusively online from January 17 to 24, 2021.

The MOP is the most important festival for young German-language film and stands for the discovery of young talents from Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

According to the organizers, the films from the four competitions and side series will be available on a streaming platform specially developed for the festival.

The audience can vote on their favorites in the public competitions.

A free, linear web channel will complement the program as a new offer.

It is also planned to make up for part of the festival later in 2021 as a face-to-face event with screenings in the Saarland cinemas in the presence of the award winners.
