  Meng Wei introduced that, as of now, the coverage rate of domestic waste sorting communities in the first batch of 46 key cities that have carried out pilot tests has reached 86.6%, and the average domestic waste recycling rate is 30.4%. The kitchen waste treatment capacity has increased from the daily rate in 2019. The increase of 34,700 tons to the current 62,800 tons per day, the initial results have appeared.

At the same time, the classification of domestic waste in my country is still in its infancy. There are still some difficulties and problems in implementing the main responsibility of the city, promoting the formation of the habit of the masses, and accelerating the construction of classification facilities.

  Meng Wei pointed out that in order to further promote waste classification and speed up the improvement of shortcomings and weaknesses, in July this year, the National Development and Reform Commission and relevant departments issued the "Implementation Plan for Urban Domestic Waste Classification and Treatment Facilities to Make up Shortcomings and Weaknesses."

Recently, 12 departments jointly issued "Several Opinions on Further Promoting the Classification of Domestic Waste" to promote the gradual establishment of a domestic waste classification system for urban and rural planning.
