Tests, New Year's Eve in small groups, self-containment ... The French have chosen different strategies to limit the risks of transmission of Covid-19.

The prime minister also said on Tuesday that children's absences from school would be tolerated on Thursday and Friday.

Europe 1 went to meet parents of Toulouse students who made different choices before Christmas.

In front of a Toulouse school, the parents of students do not have at all the same ways of considering these somewhat special end-of-year holidays because of the coronavirus.

Some have chosen to follow the recommendations of the Scientific Council: they will self-confine eight days before Christmas Eve.

Like Anne-Laure, who decided to withdraw her children from school, Thursday and Friday, a possibility mentioned by Jean Castex, Tuesday morning, on Europe 1. "There will be no exceptions until Christmas. And if they want to see a friend, it will be after the holidays, ”she says.

For Samir, on the other hand, there is no question of withdrawing his children from school: "we are both teleworking, we cannot do otherwise".

The same goes for Sophie who wants her children to "take advantage of Christmas preparations with school".

"For now, we have taken all precautions vis-à-vis the family so I tell myself that we are not close to two days," she adds.

Get tested to reassure

And even if children stay in school, some parents will take it easy with tests.

"I have already been to a pharmacy to be tested to reassure my parents and my grandparents. But I can have caught it since. So, it is quite possible that I do it again to reassure them again", assures Myriam.

To avoid all risks, other parents of students have completely changed their habits.

They treat themselves to an atypical New Year's Eve by leaving for a few days on the Basque coast or even abroad, far away from the extended family.
