Zittau (dpa / sn) - Even in the acute corona situation, no hospital in Saxony has yet had to triage corona patients.

The hospital control center in East Saxony announced this on Wednesday evening.

She reacted to statements by a doctor from Zittau, who had spoken of a triage at the Oberlausitzer Bergland Clinic there.

Trying is part of everyday life in emergency rooms, explained the Dresden University Hospital, to which the Corona control center belongs.

This means that patients who are particularly bad receive special urgent treatment.

The focus can change in disaster situations.

Triage is then used to make treatment decisions in such a way that as many patients as possible survive - but some do not.

"There is currently no Saxon hospital in such a situation!" Emphasized the control center.

As a lesson from the dramatic overload of clinics in Italy and France in the spring, three control centers in Dresden, Chemnitz and Leipzig were set up in Saxony, which control the treatment of corona patients nationwide.

There are still free intensive care and normal ward beds in Saxony.

"To date, all inquiries regarding an intensive care bed have been successfully processed by the Free State's hospital control centers and the patients assigned accordingly."

However, the situation in Saxony is quite critical.

The hospitals in the Dresden / Ostsachsen and Chemnitz / Westsachsen cluster were “clearly facing an overload” that could lead to a collapse in supply if the number of new infections does not fall in the coming weeks.
