Twistan Valley (dpa / lhe) - More than a year after the closure of the Wilke sausage manufacturer and the scandal about products contaminated with germs, the North Hessian municipality of Twist Valley wants to buy the company premises.

The municipal council decided the day before, reported Mayor Stefan Dittmann (FDP) on Wednesday.

The acquisition from the company's insolvency estate should take place around the turn of the year.

It is about a purchase price of 530,000 euros.

According to the town hall chief, what will become of the property is still unclear.

A feasibility study is currently being carried out.

On October 2, 2019, the food scandal surrounding Wilke Waldecker Fleisch- und Wurstwaren GmbH & Co.KG in Twist valley (Waldeck-Frankenberg district) became known. Listeria germs had been detected in Wilke-Wurst. The germs can be life-threatening with a weakened immune system. Health officials reported 37 cases of illness associated with Wilke products, including three deaths.
