We see a man holding an object resembling a machete facing a group of ten people near a tram station.
Hit from behind, the victim fell to the ground and ended up being severely beaten.
The facts took place last Saturday, around 7.15 p.m., Château de Rezé district, in Rezé, police reports.
The victim, a 52-year-old man with a physical disability, received several punches and kicks, as well as a stone in the face.
He regained consciousness when help arrived.
He suffered, in particular, from a major wound on his forehead.
A stolen motorcycle in Bouguenais
According to the first elements of the investigation, this father would have tried to go and recover a stolen motorcycle himself the same day in Bouguenais, near the Grande Ouche tram station.
This motorcycle, which belonged to his 16-year-old son, was indeed at Château de Rezé a few hours after the theft.
But several individuals surrounded the vehicle and prevented the father of the family from recovering it.
When the situation began to escalate, other young people came out of neighboring buildings.
On the video, death threats targeting the father are made by witnesses.
The Departmental Security has opened an investigation into all the facts.
The mayor of Bouguenais, Sandra Impériale (supported by LREM in the recent municipal elections), was indignant at the violence targeting one of her constituents.
“The ultra violence of this lynching asks me about the reasons which could have pushed the victim to decide to surrender in person so that his son's motorbike could be returned to him.
Such an approach shows that victims of assault or theft no longer believe in the police or in justice to obtain compensation for their damage.
This almost suicidal attitude is worrying.
