Hanover (dpa / lni) - The state government would like to put a stop to wage dumping in the industry with an amendment to the care law and contribute to improving wages.

In future, state funding for care facilities is to be linked to the obligation that the facilities also pay their employees wages in line with the collective agreement, announced Minister of Social Affairs Carola Reimann (SPD) on Tuesday in Hanover.

The state parliament now has to vote on the government's draft law.

In the current year, the state paid nursing facilities 60 million euros in funding for investment costs.

Regardless of the change in law, efforts are being made in Lower Saxony to create a social collective agreement, which should then be binding for all care providers.

This is to end the patchwork of different tariffs in the branch, which is organized in small parts, with the possibility of promoting improvements across the country.

An independent care complaints office is also to be introduced in Lower Saxony, to which those in need of care, relatives and employees can turn with requests for help and complaints.

To this end, the office of the state patient protection officer is to be expanded to include a care complaints office.
