Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The state parliament in Schwerin will meet for a special session on Tuesday (10:00 a.m.) to discuss the necessity and implementation of the corona lockdown that will apply from Wednesday.

Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) has announced a government statement on this.

After the experience with the first lockdown, which in the spring had massively restricted public life and large parts of the economy, greater parliaments had been agreed.

In response to the corona infections, which increased dramatically across the country in autumn, the federal and state governments agreed on a significant tightening of protective measures and contact restrictions at the weekend.

With the exception of shops for daily necessities, shops have to close from Wednesday.

Since Monday, students from grade 7 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have had to study from home again.

Pupils up to the 6th grade can still come to school.

However, it is not recommended to avoid contact.

The AfD considers the corona protective measures to be excessive.

In a motion to a special session of parliament, the opposition faction calls for the new regulations to be limited to regional sources of infection.

The contact restrictions are to be issued as a recommendation for families “in favor of independent action”.
