The

number two

of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, has avoided publicly supporting the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, as the next party leader in the region, contrary to what the leadership did with the rest of its President.

The general secretary of the PP has confirmed that the regional congress that will elect the next president of the formation will be delayed until the end of 2021 or even until 2020, as EL MUNDO has advanced.

In addition, when asked about this newspaper at a press conference, García Egea has refused to publicly support Isabel Díaz Ayuso, since his team considers that he is the best person to preside over the party in Madrid, as has already happened with Esperanza Aguirre or Cristina Cifuentes .

"As for preferences," the general secretary said resoundingly, "it will be the affiliates who choose their leader", without showing the slightest inclination towards the head of the regional Executive.

In Galicia, Murcia and Andalusia, communities where the PP also governs, Genoa supported regional presidents to lead the party.

The environment of the regional baroness believes that she should preside over this powerful territorial organization, while in the team of the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, who is the spokesman for the national Executive, they are more committed to a "third way" of consensus, as a possible option that removes the ghost of the bicephaly that the party suffered, for example in the times of Esperanza Aguirre and Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón.

The battle of Madrid, which can be fought again in the Madrid PP, would be postponed, according to the Genoa calendar, until the eve of the national congress, which is scheduled in principle for July 2022, four years after the victory of Casado in front of Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría.

In the short term, the

popular

formation will

culminate the renewal of its provincial structures, which will last until the summer of 2021. It will be afterwards when the regional congresses will begin.

As this newspaper has advanced, Pablo Casado has not even discussed this issue with Ayuso and Almeida.

This is revealed in the surroundings of the president of the PP.

"I do not worry in the least. When the time comes, I will sit down with them and we will decide," he conveyed to his family.

What they don't want in Genoa is for the organization to split up in a fratricidal struggle like in the times when Esperanza Aguirre was regional president and Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, mayor of the capital.
