Berlin (dpa / bb) - Despite the ban on celebrations and closed pubs, the Berlin police noticed numerous drunk and drug-influenced drivers during key checks.

At 241 locations, 4,208 cars and cyclists were checked over the weekend, as announced on Monday.

In 51 cases, police officers detected drug use, 36 times it was about alcohol among drivers.

Of these, 18 drivers had more than 1.1 per thousand, the highest value was 1.96 per thousand.

A cyclist who was noticed outside of the controls had drunk mulled wine and then rammed a parked car.

He measured 2.35 per mille of alcohol.

66 drivers did not have a driver's license.
