Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Despite the rampant wave of corona infections, the Baden-Württemberg Minister of Education, Susanne Eisenmann (CDU), does not want to distribute any masks to primary school teachers.

In a letter from the Ministry of Health, which is available to the German Press Agency, the Ministry of Culture is asked to check whether elementary school teachers could also be served from the inventory of FFP2 masks.

According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, there are currently 1.6 million masks left in stock.

However, the Ministry of Culture is slowing down. "Since there is no mask requirement for the primary schools, our administration has decided not to supply these schools with masks," says the reply. "This is not intended to promote the expectation that a mask requirement will also be required in elementary schools." The Ministry of Culture refers to scientific studies that have found that the risk of infection in children under ten is significantly lower than in older children. There is a mask requirement for secondary schools.
