Erfurt (dpa / th) - With new rules for emergency care during the tough lockdown, the Thuringian Ministry of Education wants to prevent children from being cared for privately outside of their own household.

"Parents should not leave their children with their grandparents if possible, unless they live in the same household anyway," said Ministry spokesman Felix Knothe on Monday in Erfurt.

Daycare centers and schools will be closed nationwide from Wednesday, but emergency care is planned.

While during the first hard lockdown in the spring only children of parents from certain occupational groups were allowed into emergency care, this time there should be no such distinction.

"It is very clear that the appeal is not to use the emergency care," said Knothe.

The general right to care is suspended.

Parents who are understandably unable to look after their children in compliance with the applicable anti-corona rules could take them to daycare.

“These parents have to explain what the problem is.

The respective daycare or school management then decides accordingly, ”explained Knothe.

Registration is required in any case.
