Neuss (dpa / lnw) - Scout associations distributed the light of peace in North Rhine-Westphalia that had been lit in Bethlehem on Sunday.

Scouts received it in the cathedral in Münster.

Because of the corona pandemic, the scout associations are not holding any major celebrations this year.

The light that is supposed to connect people and nations across borders should shine, also in church services in Cologne, Dortmund, Essen and Aachen.

In Plettenberg (Märkischer Kreis) it should be passed through the car window at a drive-in station.

The light is lit in the birth grotto in Bethlehem and is brought to Salzburg by plane every year on the initiative of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF).

From there, the little flame was driven to NRW in a car.

On Thursday, the peace light will be presented to Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) in the State Chancellery.
