Hamburg / Berlin (dpa) - With the timetable change this Sunday, Deutsche Bahn is expanding its range and increasing prices.

Long-distance trains between Hamburg and Berlin run every half hour on average during the day.

This cycle is to follow on other important routes in a few years.

60 instead of 45 trains a day now connect the two largest German cities.

There are new direct connections between Berlin and Bonn.

ICE trains with more seats and a bicycle compartment are now being used on the important Berlin-Cologne route.

After long-distance fares fell by ten percent at the beginning of the year, tickets are now becoming somewhat more expensive again.

Tickets at the so-called flex price are on average 1.5 percent more expensive, for route season tickets and the BahnCard 100 the surcharge is 1.9 percent on average.

Super saver prices and saver prices remain unchanged, as do the prices for Bahncards 25 and 50.
