Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - After the first victory in the sixth attempt as coach of MSV Duisburg, Gino Lettieri still sees a lot of work ahead of him.

«We have to stay on the ground, carry on and see what we can do in the game on Wednesday at Bayern.

We still have a long way to go », said Lettieri on Saturday after the 4-1 (1-0) against SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

On Wednesday (7 p.m.), MSV wants to confirm the slight upward trend with a triumph for the FC Bayern Munich II team.

After the first home win of the season and the end of a lean period of eight games in a row without three-pointers, the Duisburgers are still in the relegation zone, but were able to gain a lot of self-confidence.

“We needed that, it was super cool,” said MSV attacker Vincent Vermeij, who contributed three hits.

"We did it really well and this time we were rewarded for it," said the Dutchman.

Lettieri, who led Duisburg to the 2nd division in 2015 and has been back in the MSV coaching bench since mid-November, had to process five games without a win before the longed-for triumph.

"We pulled it through to the end and we became safer with every goal," said Lettieri.
