Bremerhaven (dpa / lni) - The fireworks manufacturer Comet sees the whole pyro industry in danger in view of the corona-related ban on the sale of rockets and firecrackers on New Year's Eve.

"The entire branch of the economy is now threatened with bankruptcy," said the company based in Bremerhaven on Sunday.

"The industry needs immediate aid in the hundreds of millions to prevent this."

Comet itself makes almost 100 percent of its annual sales with the New Year's Eve business, the message continues.

However, the company has no access to the state bridging aid.

In order to be able to secure its 200 jobs, Comet is now dependent on solidarity.

The federal and state governments agreed on a ban on the sale of pyrotechnics and a ban on gathering on New Year's Eve and New Year's on Sunday. A fireworks ban should also apply in busy places, which are determined by the municipalities.
