The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has implemented a package of improvements to seven sites along Sheikh Zayed Road, as part of its plan to reduce traffic congestion and increase the capacity of vehicles while traveling on the street.

The Executive Director of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Authority, Eng. Maitha Bin Adi, confirmed that the improvements come within the framework of the authority's new vision, represented by "global leadership in easy and sustainable mobility", as the improvements will contribute to significantly reducing traffic congestion for users of Sheikh Zayed Road and its extension. She added that the Sheikh Zayed Road exit towards Umm Suqeim was improved by expanding exit 39 near Mall of the Emirates on Sheikh Zayed Road, from one lane with a capacity of 1,800 vehicles per hour to two lanes with a capacity of 3,600 vehicles per hour, which reduces The flight time from Sheikh Zayed Road to Umm Suqeim ranges from 12 minutes to 1.45 minutes, and reducing the queue from one kilometer to 50 meters only, explaining that the second improvement was through modifying the exit of Umm Amara Street towards the intersection of Al Safa Park on Sheikh Zayed Road, which contributes to Reducing traffic on the current roundabout, and increasing the flow of traffic for those heading to Abu Dhabi.

Bin Uday pointed to the third improvement, which centered around modifying the free right lane, from the second of December Street towards Abu Dhabi on Sheikh Zayed Road, where the storage lane was increased, which leads to an increase in the flow rate of traffic on the Trade Center roundabout and a reduction in the queue. The fourth took place on Al Thuwaima Street in Al Barsha area near the Novotel Hotel, with the aim of reducing the traffic density on Service Street, and easy access to the interior areas through Sheikh Zayed Road.

She said that the fifth improvement took place on Sheikh Zayed Road near the first intersection in the direction of Abu Dhabi (Shangri-La Hotel), where one lane was added, increasing the capacity by 1800 vehicles per hour, as well as adding a third lane at the exit towards the Dubai Mall, bringing the capacity to 5,400 One vehicle per hour, which contributes to the flow of traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road near the first intersection, while the sixth improvement was on Sheikh Zayed Road near the first intersection towards Sharjah (Dusit Hotel), where a lane was added to increase the capacity of 1800 vehicles per hour This means reducing the length of waiting to enter the service street, in addition to implementing improvements to the entrances and exits to achieve smooth traffic movement, noting that the seventh improvement was implemented on Sheikh Zayed Road near the fourth intersection towards Sharjah (Al-Manara exit), through the implementation of Improvements to the entrance and exit to Al Manara Interchange, to improve traffic flow on Sheikh Zayed Road and reduce queue, which raised the capacity from 10 thousand and 800 vehicles per hour to 12 thousand and 600 vehicles per hour, as well as
