Cottbus (dpa / bb) - At this year's Cottbus Film Festival (FFC), the Russian director Ivan I. Tverdovskiy won the main prize for the third time.

After the films “Corrections Class” (2014) and “Zoology” (2016), he received the award for “Conference” on Saturday.

The film is a reflection on the hostage-taking in Moscow's Dubrowka Theater in 2002. The work is “like a force of nature,” said the international jury, among other reasons for their choice.

The prize is endowed with 25,000 euros.

The special prize for the best director went to the Polish director Piotr Domalewski for “I never cry”.

The film tells the story of 17-year-old Ola, who has to transfer the body of her father, who died in a container port, to Poland.

The prize is endowed with 7,500 euros.

The acting debutants Marijana Novakov, Tijana Marković and Valentino Zenuni from the film "Oasis" by the Serbian director Ivan Ikićs received the award for an outstanding performance in a single performance.

In the opinion of the jury, the film provides a “captivating” insight into the emotional world of young people.

It was filmed with non-professional actors in a dormitory for young people with intellectual disabilities.
