Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - In 2019, according to figures from the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, 24 210 people suffered from Alzheimer's disease in Hessen.

This emerges from a response from the Ministry of Social Affairs in Wiesbaden to a parliamentary request from the SPD parliamentary group.

Alzheimer's is one of the dementia diseases in which mental performance is greatly reduced.

There is no preventive vaccination or cure for Alzheimer's.

Medicines can only delay the symptoms or alleviate them somewhat.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, there is a wide range of advice, assistance and therapy options in Hesse.

The Hesse Dementia Atlas, for example, provides an overview.

Patients and their relatives would receive support, for example, from the care support points of the rural districts and independent cities.

In addition, according to the ministry, housing advice is offered nationwide.
