The Russian giant Yandex launched this Wednesday its hot meal delivery offer by robots in a district of Moscow.

The service of the digital enterprise, called Yandex.

Eats, is still in the testing phase.

It already made it possible, thanks to a mobile app, to be brought home since the return of food and shopping.

Yandex now offers its users meals prepared by local restaurateurs, reports

The tests will continue

Customers have the choice between a human delivery man and a small robot equipped with six wheels.

Three of these machines, named Yandex.

Rover, are currently in service in the Moscow business district of Place Blanche.

Once the machine has arrived, the user can unlock the storage compartment using their smartphone and collect their order.

Yandex specifies that it has a fleet of 20 of these robots.

The company intends to continue testing its delivery program by expanding it to other areas of the Russian capital.

A developing market with the Covid-19 crisis

Already in demand delivery services have become even more popular with the coronavirus health crisis, said Dmitry Polishchuk, one of the executives of Yandex.

The company sometimes described as "Russian Google" posted a video on YouTube on Wednesday showing its Yandex robots.

This technological activity center located in the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia) is the second region in which Yandex has deployed its robots to test them.

The images show the small vehicles carrying bags placed in their insulated boxes to their recipients.
