"On December 12, a telephone conversation took place between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov," the statement on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website says.
The parties discussed topical issues of the international and bilateral agenda.
In addition, the heads of the foreign ministries discussed the practical tasks of implementing the November 9 statement by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia.
Earlier, Lavrov said that the Russian side, through its peacekeepers in Karabakh, would facilitate the exchange of prisoners.
