Weimar / Erfurt (dpa / th) - After a decision by the Thuringian Higher Administrative Court in Weimar, a large meeting planned for Saturday in Erfurt remains prohibited.

The Third Senate had rejected a complaint by the meeting registrants against a previous court decision that upheld the city's ban.

A spokeswoman for the Higher Administrative Court announced on Saturday.

In the reasoning, the court also referred to risk assessments associated with the corona pandemic.

The alliance "Thuringia stands together" had registered a meeting that is directed against the state Corona measures with 3000 participants for Saturday afternoon on the Domplatz.

With a view to protection against infection and the increasingly critical corona development in the state capital, the assembly was not responsible, the city had justified its ban.

The notifying parties took action against this.

On Friday evening, however, the Weimar Administrative Court confirmed the ban (Ref .: 7 E 1732/20 We).

This was justified, among other things, by the fact that larger gatherings of people lead to an increased risk of transmission.

Therefore, in such cases, it is imperative to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus as much as the freedom of assembly allows.
