Mainz (dpa / lrs) - After the state government's response to a parliamentary request from the CDU parliamentary group about recruitment and promotion practices in ministries, the party demanded additional clarification from Economics Minister Volker Wissing (FDP).

"Also in the FDP Ministry of Economics of Volker Wissing 38 promotions were carried out without assessments," said CDU General Secretary Gerd Schreiner on Saturday in Mainz.

"We now expect a clear statement from the lawyer Wissing as to whether he has complied with the law in his ministry."

There are still many questions open.

Schreiner called on Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) to “show full transparency in the promotion affair”.

Instead of providing real clarification, the State Chancellery "started its fog machine".

According to the answer from the Ministry of the Interior, 94 employees in the Ministry of the Environment and 38 in the Ministry of Economic Affairs were promoted without assessment in the current legislative period.

The CDU parliamentary group wants to commission the Würzburg professor of public law, Ralf Brinktrine, with a legal opinion on the 66-page long answer (without appendix).

The affair began in mid-September after a ruling by the Higher Administrative Court (OVG) in Koblenz became known.

The judges upheld an official's complaint and described the transport practice in the Ministry of the Environment as “grossly illegal”.

It was about the waiver of tenders and an assessment of officials during a promotion.

At the end of November, Environment Minister Ulrike Höfken and State Secretary Thomas Griese (both Greens) announced their resignation at the end of the year.
