Halle (dpa) - The suspect in the case of the six-year-old rescued from the hall is to be brought before a judge on Saturday afternoon (1 p.m.).

Prosecutor Klaus Wiechmann told the German press agency in the morning.

On Friday noon, the police had put the suspect in the "Elsa" case.

The man from Halle has been in police custody since then.

Two joggers had spotted the girl in the hall the previous Sunday morning.

Before that, calls for help could be heard.

According to the investigation, the suspect had been seen carrying the child mostly in his arms through Halle's city center. The girl was only wearing pajamas in the cool temperatures. At first, the investigators did not comment on whether it was possibly a kidnapping or another criminal offense.
