The US Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to annul the election results in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin.

The nine Supreme Court justices - including 3 appointed by outgoing President Donald Trump - said, "Texas that voted for Trump has no right to interfere in elections in other states."

The Supreme Court ruling stated that Texas had demonstrated no judicially recognized interest in the way another state conducted its elections.

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Washington, Abdel Moneim Al-Amrani, said, "The Supreme Court's decision eliminated the last fortunes of Trump and his allies in reversing the results of the presidential elections that were won by his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, although this decision does not prevent Trump from submitting any other pending or future appeals regarding Elections in the Supreme Court or any other court.

Last Tuesday, the Texas attorney general filed a lawsuit in order to nullify the election results in 4 swing states that Joe Biden won, claiming that these states had introduced changes to election procedures due to the Corona epidemic, which violated federal law, and claimed that the changes enabled a process of fraud. .

Attorneys general in 17 states governed by Republicans, as well as outgoing President Donald Trump, also filed notes to the US Supreme Court in Washington on Wednesday, showing their support for a lawsuit in Texas demanding that the court cancel the results of the presidential elections in 4 states.

The leader of the Republican minority in the House of Representatives joined the list of supporters of the Texas attorney general's lawsuit, to nullify the results in 4 states, bringing the total number to 126.

Before the ruling, Trump said in a tweet that "if the Supreme Court showed great wisdom and courage, then perhaps the American people will win the most important case in history, and the American election process will be respected again."

On the other hand, US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi attacked the supporters of the Texas state’s appeal to nullify the election results in 4 states, and considered that they undermine the Constitution and threaten to erode the confidence of Americans.

Pelosi's criticism came after Democratic Representative Bill Baskrell and congressional leaders called on her to drop any lawmaker who supports Trump's efforts to nullify the election results.

Baskrell said - in a letter to Pelosi - that the lawmakers who signed the petition supporting the annulment of elections in 4 states are violating the constitution and seeking to install Trump as an unelected dictator.

The Supreme Court rejected a legal challenge Tuesday by Republicans, seeking to reject millions of votes in Pennsylvania, one of the major swing states.

Since the November 3 elections, Trump has refused to admit his defeat, and says that "the victory was stolen from him because of massive democratic fraud."

So far, neither Trump nor his lawyers have been able to provide evidence of election fraud, and all lawsuits they filed to overturn election results in several states have been dismissed.
