A smell of smoke that suggested the worst ... Thursday evening, around 9 p.m., about fifty firefighters went to the bedside of the Saint-Julien cathedral in Le Mans after a security guard, who was carrying out a round, gave the alert.

According to the newspaper

Le Maine Libre

, the building was immediately inspected from top to bottom, this operation having even mobilized a drone.

Finally, more fear than harm: no outbreak of fire was observed.

Which could explain this incident.

“Smoke tests were carried out during the day and it is probably residues still trapped in the building that caused this odor,” she explains.

The mayor of Le Mans (PS), Stéphane Le Foll, also went to the scene, around 10 p.m.

A fire brigade was still mobilized this Friday morning, for surveillance operations.
