Michael Arthursson says that he received the news of Fredrick Federley's resignation yesterday.

- He has talked to different people but I at least got a hint about it, he says to SVT News.

Were you surprised or was it an expected message?

- Both.

We might have thought we could have the discussion with Fredrik when he got healthier.

On the other hand, there has been a lot of hard media pressure against him so it is not so strange that he thought it was too hard.

Do you think it is trust or the nature of the crime that is the biggest problem?

- As we said before, it is problematic that he has had a relationship with this convicted person for a long time.

That is what has damaged confidence.

Now we see no reason to move forward in that discussion when he himself chooses to resign.

"Feels very sad and sad"

How do you personally feel about what has happened?

- It feels very sad and sad in many ways.

It is not funny when a senior representative is forced to conclude that he needs to resign.

These are subdued emotions.

Is Fredrick Federley leaving politics for good now?

- It is difficult to say, he leaves two very heavy political assignments and is also in a situation where he does not feel well at all but is ill and needs care.

What happens later is very difficult to say anything about.

"Have asked a lot of questions"

Fredrick Federley has been an important name for the Center Party for several years and has, among other things, led the party in two EU elections and Michael Arthursson says that it has been asked "very many questions" internally.

- These are questions that have been unanswered.

Since then, we have not been able to discuss politics as usual.

But most of all, this has been difficult for Fredrick Federley himself, his family and those around him.

Will this affect the Center Party?

- I do not know, but we will go further and pursue the issues that we think are important for Sweden and I am convinced that we can come back and discuss more politics.

She replaces Federley

When Fredrick Federley will leave the European Parliament is not yet clear, but his replacement will probably be Emma Wiesner.

- She also received this information today so this is new to her.

But if she wants to, she will enter the European Parliament.
