Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - The Neubrandenburg Dreikönigsverein has received a bronze relief by the artist Tisa von der Schulenburg (1903-2001).

The work of art was given to the facility as a gift from an art collector, as the socially active association announced on Friday in Neubrandenburg.

The bronze relief «The Good Samaritan» is to be given a place in the Epiphany Hospice, said the association's chairman Rainer Prachtl.

The background is that the artist came from a noble family from Bobitz in Mecklenburg (Northwest Mecklenburg) and one of her original works should therefore remain in Mecklenburg.

Schulenburg has repeatedly put suffering people at the center of her work.

The artist, who received the Federal Cross of Merit in 1994 and who last lived in North Rhine-Westphalia, was the sister of Fritz-Dietlof von der Schulenburg (1902-1944), who was executed by the Nazi regime with other resistance fighters after the assassination attempt on Hitler in 1944.

The Dreikönigsverein is one of the most important socially committed associations in the northeast, it organizes youth trips to Israel and annually awards the Siemerling Social Prize.
