23 years.

This is the time we had to wait to see the XV of France in Bordeaux again.

On the sidelines of the presentation of the device for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in Gironde, the general manager of the public interest group Claude Atcher announced that the French team would play a match at Matmut Atlantique in November 2022.

It will be a match of the Autumn Nations Cup, the new international competition.

For the moment, we do not yet know who will be the opponent of the Blues.

The last time the XV of France played in Bordeaux was during the 1999 World Cup with a victory in the group stage against Namibia (47-13).

12 sites selected in the region to become base camps in 2023

Fabien Galthié's players could return to Bordeaux a year later.

Indeed, the city will host four or five matches of the 2023 World Cup. The hosting of this fifth match will be decided according to the schedule and the attractiveness of it after the draw next Monday.

Bordeaux Métropole will invest more than two million euros to host the competition as in 1999 and 2007. Nearly 200,000 tickets will be put on sale next March.

A few hours before the # RWC2023 draw, we are proud that @BxMetro and @Bordeaux are joining the @ France2023 adventure.

We share the same objective: to engage in a new generation of major events, with a positive impact for society on the planet.

In addition, 12 sites were selected in New Aquitaine to become a country's base camp.

The managers of the different teams will make their choice in November 2021.
