Los Angeles (AP) - The US entertainment giant Disney has announced dozens of new series and films, with a focus on the “Star Wars” universe and the expansion of its streaming service Disney +.

Fans of Marvel and Pixar productions and series such as “Sister Act” and “Indiana Jones” can also look forward to it.

During the several-hour presentation at Investors Day on Thursday (local time), ten new “Star Wars” series were announced, including “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, in which Ewan McGregor as the iconic Jedi master and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader meet.

Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy presented two new cinema projects from the “Star Wars” universe.

"Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins is to direct "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" for a theatrical release in December 2023.

She is the first woman to set the tone in a Star Warrior cinema saga.

In addition, a still untitled “Star Wars” feature film is planned, directed by New Zealander Taika Waititi (“Thor: Day of Decision”).

Kennedy also announced the return of Harrison Ford in his role as "Indiana Jones" professor of archeology.

The shooting for the adventure film, directed by James Mangold, is planned for the coming spring, the theatrical release for July 2022. Since 1981 Ford played the role of the daring professor four times, most recently in 2008 in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".

The animation company Pixar, which belongs to Disney, is also planning animated series for the first time in addition to a feature film about the “Toy Story” character Buzz Lightyear.

A series based on the hit movie “Cars” is due to hit the screens in autumn 2022.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige announced a new "Fantastic Four" movie directed by Jon Watts ("Spider-Man: Far From Home").

He also confirmed the planned shooting of "Black Panther II", directed by Ryan Coogler, paying tribute to "Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer in August.

His iconic role as the king's son T'Challa in the comic book adaptation will not appear in the sequel.

But they wanted to portray the world of the fictional African state of Wakanda in order to honor the legacy of the actor.
