The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai revealed the start of the implementation of the "smart inspector" system, to control and monitor the performance of the drivers of the vehicles of the «Dubai Taxi» Corporation, through the use of artificial intelligence techniques to detect malpractices, based on approximately 200 alerts issued by the institution’s control center. And it sends it to observers, including: speed, seat belt, talking on the phone, sleeping, eating, and other practices that are monitored.

The Executive Director of the Dubai Taxi Corporation at the authority, Dr. Yusuf Al Ali, told «Emirates Today», that «the corporation recently launched the (smart inspector) system, which takes advantage of artificial intelligence techniques and advanced systems applied in the institution’s control system, from Through an application that specializes in controlling the taxi fleet of the corporation and its drivers, the authority developed it so that inspectors could use it easily, whether they were in the field or in locations far from the vehicles.

He added, “Previously, the taxi inspector at the Dubai Taxi Corporation needed, to find out the drivers’ compliance with the rules and regulations, to record notes according to the approved violations book, and to be kept manually, and related to his lack of commitment to wearing the uniform, to being always late, to clean the vehicle, or to operate the meter .

After that, we worked on operating systems that simulate modern technologies through a smart application that includes all technologies. The inspector can download it to his phone, and the system knows for himself that he is allowed to use the application, and that he has the status of judicial seizure.

He continued: “The application feeds with information stored in the Corporation’s control center systems, and the main technical system for the taxi sector. When the observer logs into the application, he can bring the phone closer to the vehicle’s front plate, giving him the main features of the vehicle, and the system picks up a signal through the plate, on it. The driver's data, his license to practice the profession, the driver's license, and gives a realistic picture of all the alerts on the vehicle. ”

He explained that if the inspector is in his office, he can, through the application, enter the vehicle code to appear in front of him, press it as if he is on the ground, and enter the cameras in the vehicle, and the system gives him options: for example, does he want the front camera or the back camera, or highlight warnings and preemptive violations Saved in the system.

He continued: "Our reports indicate a tangible improvement in service, as a result of the use of artificial intelligence and modern technologies, which have reduced malpractice to a very large percentage."

Modern technologies have reduced

malpractices to a great extent.
