Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - The Frankfurt Administrative Court has confirmed the ban on the "lateral thinkers" demonstration planned for this Saturday (December 12).

The authority announced on Friday that “the ban imposed by the city of Frankfurt am Main is lawful”.

The initiative now has the opportunity to proceed against the decision in the next instance at the Hessian Administrative Court in Kassel.

The demonstration was initially canceled by the public order office.

40,000 participants, rallies at twelve different locations and a demonstration march through the city center were registered.

The administrative court has now confirmed that the events of the size registered “without an adequate hygiene and implementation concept against the background of the pandemic situation” are not justifiable.

In addition, from experience with similar events, it can be expected that there will be significant violations of the mask requirement and that distances will not be observed.

According to the court, the city had offered alternative options for implementation, which the lateral thinkers would have refused.

Overall, it becomes clear that the movement is seriously misunderstanding its own role as a meeting leader, it said.

The lateral thinkers had called on their supporters in the past few days to come to Frankfurt despite the ban and to register spontaneous meetings.
