Four citizen students at the University of Sharjah invented a device for cooling and heating water, using solar energy. The innovation is environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

The students, Meera Al Hammadi, Saleh Al Marri, Nada Al Jawi, and Maha Al Amiri, were able to complete the project of cooling and heating water within two months, aiming to introduce some developments and updates to it, so that it can produce a large amount of water, whether cooled or hot, according to the activity used in it.

The students told "Emirates Today" that the device consists of two water tanks, sensors, a solar panel to generate electrical energy, a battery to store energy, and a large fan whose movement works on the flow of water through a dedicated tube from one tank to another depending on cooling or heating the water, indicating that the device can Use it in homes, farms and estates to provide the necessary water, without relying on electricity.

They indicated that the device is used to cool the water during the summer period, and to heat it in the winter season, explaining that if cold water is desired, the fan works to expel the hot air from the inside and enter the cold air from the area surrounding the water in the tank, to reduce the water temperature to the required degree. And in the event that water heating is targeted, the fan will work in reverse, with the energy generated by solar panels to raise the water temperature.

They emphasized that with this device, they aimed to contribute to preserving the environment, while focusing on the use of renewable energy.
