Hildesheim (dpa) - The end of the corona pandemic is not yet in sight - many young people experience it as a time of great psychological stress.

Almost 46 percent of the 15 to 30-year-olds surveyed in a nationwide study either fully or rather agreed with the statement that they were afraid of the future.

Young people in particular who no longer go to school complained of loneliness, financial worries and other hardships.

These are the first results of the "JuCo 2" study by the research association "Childhood - Youth - Family in the Corona Period".

More than 7,000 teenagers and young adults answered the online questionnaires from scientists from the Universities of Hildesheim and Frankfurt.

A first study by the research association had already shown in spring that many young people felt that their worries during the Corona period were not being heard.

Furthermore, they have the impression that their needs are not being taken up by politicians, the universities announced on Thursday.

Over 1400 participants took the opportunity to formulate their own comments.

«Young people want to have a say - even in the Corona period.

They have important ideas for implementing different measures in their everyday life, ”said youth researcher Johanna Wilmes from the University of Frankfurt.

Adults have a responsibility to create space for young people and to enter into dialogue with them - even in times of crisis, as the authors of the study emphasized.
