Regularization: The Prosecutor's Office will investigate the origin of the 678,000 euros paid to the Treasury by Juan Carlos I before filing the case
The Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Court officially communicated to the defense of
Juan Carlos I
that it kept open two pre-procedural proceedings that affected his fortune, specifically, the investigation by the AVE commissions to Mecca and the investigations into the funds received from the Mexican businessman
Allen Sanginés-Krause
that were channeled through Air Force Colonel
Nicolás Murga Mendoza.
Fiscal sources consulted by EL MUNDO explain that this notification is common and is framed in circular 4/2013 which provides for the communication of the opening of investigation proceedings to the affected person provided that the course of the investigations is not impaired.
In the specific case of the King Emeritus, the media throughout the country had already reported in November that both procedures of the Public Ministry were underway when the notification from the Prosecutor's Office arrived.
The defense of the Monarch, led by the lawyer Javier Sánchez Junco, yesterday regularized his situation with the Treasury by paying the payment of a debt of
678,393 euros
to the Treasury in the case of the donations received by Sanginés-Krause, also known as the opaque cards .
The different sources of the case explain that having regularized the possible tax fraud in time, for procedural purposes, the tax crime "does not come to fruition", so it will be practically impossible to criminally prosecute the presumed figurehead of the King, Colonel Nicolás Murga Mendoza , or to the donor of the funds, the Mexican Allen Sanginés-Krause.
Before proceeding to file the proceedings, the team of prosecutors led by
Juan Ignacio Campo
, the next Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, will analyze the details of the aforementioned tax regularization.
