Like cinemas and theaters, stadium stands will remain closed and professional sport will continue to play behind closed doors until at least January 7, Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Thursday.
"I also know that sports fans dreamed of returning to the stadium to see their favorite teams," admitted the Prime Minister, listing the list of establishments open to the public which would remain closed.
A week ago, he indicated that spectators would not be back in the stadiums "before December 15".
Professional sport has been played behind closed doors for two months, and the executive has released nearly $ 110 million in aid to help those most affected by the loss in ticketing revenue.
Regarding the practice of sports for minors, authorized outside since the end of November, the Ministry of Sports was not able to say Thursday evening whether or not the gymnasiums will be closed to minors practicing in clubs in December.
This possibility of resuming indoor sport in December was mentioned on November 17 by Emmanuel Macron, subject to sanitary conditions.
