Krefeld (dpa) - The third division soccer team KFC Uerdingen will remain homeless until further notice.

As the KFC confirmed on Thursday, the city council in Krefeld refused to pay the additional costs for the renovation of the Grotenburg Stadium.

This was "a slap in the face," wrote the KFC: "Our club has been suffering in exile for three years and is waiting to be allowed to return to its home."

In addition, there are currently disputes with the Merkur-Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf.

The "Bild" and the "Kicker" reported that the operating company of the Krefeld alternative arcade had threatened with a ban if outstanding rent payments were not made at short notice.

According to KFC, the next home game will definitely take place on Saturday against Türkgücü Munich.

Accordingly, there were discussions and corresponding agreements with the operating company in the specific case.

Following the announced withdrawal of investor Mikhail Ponomarew, the KFC is currently facing an uncertain future.

The 46-year-old wants to quit as president by the end of the season at the latest.

According to the club, talks are currently underway with potential new investors.

However, the KFC itself spoke of “challenges”.

In order to “secure the continued existence of the future” there is no alternative to a “home of one's own”,
