December 10, 2020A quarter of adult Americans do not want to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, yet another quarter have not decided.

It is the result of a survey by the Associated Press-Center For Public Affairs Research reported by the Guardian.

Despite advances in vaccines, the results are not much different from the May survey.

In the survey of 1,117 American adults from December 3 to 7, about 3 in 10 said they were very or extremely confident that the first available vaccines have been properly tested for safety and efficacy.

But a similar number of people said they didn't have the same confidence.

All the other people interviewed have an opinion equidistant from these two extremes.

Of those who do not want to get vaccinated, about 3 in 10 said they were not worried about becoming seriously ill from the coronavirus and about a quarter said the outbreak is not as serious as it is reported by experts.

About 7 out of 10 of those who said they did not want to be vaccinated are worried about side effects and prefer to wait for the next vaccination campaign.

Cases in the US

The virus runs fast in the US.

3,054 people have died in the last 24 hours.

300 more than the previous peak, dating back to May.

Data from the Covid Tracking Project.

Negative record also for hospitalizations with 106,688 patients treated in medical facilities.

The average daily contagion cases stood at 200,000 for a total of about 15.4 million infections since the start of the pandemic, which has already caused almost 300,000 deaths in the country.
