Starting January 1, gun enthusiasts will pay less to buy guns made outside of Brazil.

The government has in fact just eliminated customs duties for the purchase of revolvers.

The foreign trade chamber has just officially decided to reduce the import tax currently in force from 20% to zero.

On social networks, this decision announced Wednesday was illustrated by a photo of Jair Bolsonaro in a shooting range.

The far-right president has always been in favor of self-defense and has already taken

several steps to facilitate access to firearms

More and more weapons in circulation

Taurus, the main manufacturer of firearms in Brazil, criticized this measure which will encourage the importation of foreign weapons.

Since the start of the year, the number of weapons identified with the authorities has already increased by 60% compared to 2019, the first year of Jair Bolsonaro's mandate.

Violence has also claimed more lives: more than 25,000 people were murdered in the first half of the year.
