Does Vladimir Putin want his own people to believe that they are in Moscow even though he is on the Black Sea?

According to a report by "Spiegel", which cites a media report from Russia, that should be so.

But the Kremlin is now lamenting an "information campaign" including "attacks" against the Russian president.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov rejected media reports on Wednesday that Putin had an office built in his residence on the Black Sea, like his Moscow suburban residence, to simulate his presence near the capital.

According to the report, the room was exactly replicated right down to the pencil holder.

"That is the untruth," said Peskow, according to the Interfax agency.

"These are components of an information campaign, of information attacks, which of course do not achieve their goal," said Peskow.

The media had previously reported that Putin was working from Sochi, although TV viewers were shown the Novo-Ogaryovo placemark - from Putin's residence near Moscow.

"The offices are not the same, the president has many offices in many cities that he uses, and you can see all of it," said Peskov.

The president's close confidante had recently rejected speculations about Putin's health as false.

In addition, he now commented on reports of Putin's unannounced trips.

"As for any movements of planes and so on: the machines of the Rossiya company are in many cities," said Peskov.

The Rossiya planes are also used for state leadership.

The Kremlin spokesman pointed out that the flights were a state secret.

Journalists wanted to use the flight data to establish that Putin could not be in Moscow, even though photos from his office suggested this.
