Luxembourg (dpa) - In Luxembourg there will be no easing over Christmas.

Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel announced on Wednesday that the current restriction that a maximum of two people from another household may visit will remain in place until January 15.

"It's no time to relax."

The number of new infections is still too high.

The other stricter corona measures that have been in place for almost two weeks should also be extended until mid-January.

This includes the closure of restaurants, pubs and numerous cultural and leisure facilities.

Bettel also announced a sharper pace in front of shopping malls where people consumed take-away.

For the extension of the corona rules, which are currently in force until December 15, there will still be a law, said Bettel after the meeting of the government council.

Luxembourg is still trying to prevent “a complete lockdown like in March”.
