Mendig (dpa / lrs) - Two sisters were walking their dogs in the dark when one of the two was suddenly gone.
On a footpath in Mendig (Mayen-Koblenz district) in the direction of the Thürer Wiesen, one of the women turned around and missed the sister, as the Mayen police department announced on Tuesday evening.
This was "as if swallowed by the earth".
During her search, the woman found her sister in a 1.5 meter deep hole in the ground, as it was said.
The sister fell up to her neck but was able to free herself and suffered only minor injuries.
Despite the flashlight she hadn't seen the hole in the middle of the way.
The danger area was secured by the police until further notice.
